Summer Programming Assistant

Are you a creative, energetic high school student who enjoys working with children? Looking to gain valuable experience in a fun, community-focused environment this summer? The Penhold & District Library is looking for a Summer Programming Assistant to help bring our TD Summer Reading Program to life!

About the Role

As our Summer Programming Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting and delivering engaging activities for children and families throughout the summer. From crafts and games to reading challenges and special events, you’ll help create a welcoming and exciting space that inspires a love of reading and learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and running children’s programs and activities

• Help prepare program materials, crafts, and displays

• Engage with children and families in a friendly, positive manner

• Support daily library operations as needed

• Promote the TD Summer Reading Program and encourage participation

What We’re Looking For

• A current high school student

• Enthusiastic, reliable, and responsible

• Enjoys working with children (ages 5–12)

• Creative and willing to try new ideas

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Comfortable taking initiative and helping lead activities

Position Details

• Temporary summer position (July–August)
